Baker Hughes, NOV to Drive U.S. Service Innovation in Africa’s Energy Future at USAEF

The U.S.-Africa Energy Forum (USAEF) is pleased to announce the participation of senior leaders from Baker Hughes and NOV at this year’s Forum, taking place in Houston on August 6-7. Tayo Akinokun, Senior Vice President – Global Regions for Oilfield Services & Equipment, Baker Hughes, and Cobie Loper, Senior Vice President of Operators and Geographical Sales, NOV, will join the program to share insights on how U.S. service and technology providers are advancing Africa’s energy development.

Baker Hughes has recently strengthened its presence in key African markets. In Nigeria, the company launched the first automated wellhead solution in sub-Saharan Africa – partnering with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company and First E&P to boost production efficiency in the Niger Delta – and is also investing in local talent through its 2025 University Placements and Internships Program for young Nigerians. In Namibia, Baker Hughes opened new facilities last November to support growing drilling activity, signaling confidence in Africa’s emerging markets and expanding U.S. commercial ties in the region.

With a footprint that spans key African markets, NOV is involved in strategic initiatives across the energy value chain – from offshore exploration to production, processing and logistics. The company is committed not only to technical excellence, but also local content development, job creation and knowledge transfer, empowering African communities and industries through meaningful partnerships.

The Forum will feature discussions on how leading service providers support Africa’s energy goals through innovation, efficiency and capacity building. U.S. providers offer advanced technologies, proven expertise in frontier and deepwater environments, and a strong commitment to safety and efficiency – key factors as African producers develop complex reserves, optimize mature fields and reduce emissions. For U.S. companies, Africa presents an opportunity to grow in dynamic markets with high demand for innovation and reliable partnerships.
