PAUL HINKS is the Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Symbion Power Group, a New York based energy investor that develops, finances, builds and then operates electrical power infrastructure in emerging markets. Under his leadership, Symbion has invested in 1,400MW of generation capacity across Africa in Rwanda, Tanzania, Kenya, Madagascar, and Nigeria, and it has constructed over 3,000 kms of transmission and distribution infrastructure. The Symbion Group is currently investing in energy projects in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Angola. With a career spanning over 40 years in the global power industry, Paul has worked in the United Kingdom, the United States, the Middle East, Asia, and in Africa. Additionally, Paul serves as Chairman of Invest Africa US, a leading business and investment platform that promotes investment across the African continent supporting potential investors from all sectors. He is also a member of the Milken Institute Africa Leaders Business Council. Symbion’s group portfolio includes MyHydro, a company focused on developing scalable, distributed hydropower solutions tailored for off-grid communities in Africa. MyHydro delivers 24/7 affordable and clean electricity to underserved populations. Paul’s latest venture, HYDRO-LINK is a large-scale investment for a 400kV transmission line that will deliver power over 1,200 kms from Angola to the critical mineral and rare earth mining sector of the Congo.
